A few weeks ago I found myself abusing the cruise control on my way to the Drakensberg to cover the celebration oftalented creatives Brad and Iola at Cathedral Peak. Per GPS: 4 hours and 10 minutes. One thing that strikes you coming from a cityscape is the presence of the berg with its scattered canyon-like peaks surrounded by dark blue waters of the Sterkfontein that start just outside of Harrismith. Although I have been to the berg before I definitely have forgotten just how beautiful this part of the country really is. You cannot help but get all smiley faced inside as you start negotiating the twisty and hilly road (partly under re-construction) that traverses the side of the mountain. Stop at the little shop near Little Switzerland for something cool or take it slow through Bergville. Instant therapy.
Enough about the soppy romanticism of travel Hannes, more about Brad and Iola’s wedding!
It’s no secret that I love to book only über cool couples and Brad and Iola was no different. Add to that perfect weather, awesome people, striking surroundings, a trip up the mountain with a heli for a sundowner shoot plus a killer celebration afterwards, and you have a wedding day that was totally spot on. Can I dare to mention perfect? Well, after almost 12 hours of shutter madness my feet and soul said: oh yes!
Much thanks to fellow Nikonian, Hendrik van Heerden for assisting me on the day and being part of the fun
